Did you know that chronic Omega three deficiency can lead to brain shrinkage?
This article was sent to me today by my lecturer and he gave permission for me to place it on my website.
SMASH: The Potent Recipe for Increasing Omega 3
Ronald Grisanti D.C., D.A.B.C.O., DACBN, MS, CFMP
The acronym SMASH stands for salmon, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, and herring. These are the fish that are the safest and healthiest to eat. They are nutrient-rich, high in omega-3s, and are low in mercury.
SMASH fish are all small fish because the larger the fish and the longer its lifespan, the higher its mercury content.
Mercury, in excess, can impair vision, coordination, and speech, and can cause muscle weakness.
Research, including a study published in a 2020 issue of the journal Biomolecules, has associated higher levels of mercury in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease.
Here are 5 reasons you should add more SMASH in your life.
1: SMASH fish are high in long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids. These healthy fats are easily absorbed, are high in anti-inflammatory properties, and can help reduce cardiac issues as well as symptoms of autoimmune conditions.
2: SMASH fish are high in selenium and low in mercury.
3: The proteins in SMASH fish are easy to digest.
4: SMASH fish contain iodine. Iodine is difficult to source from other foods, but it's essential for proper thyroid and immune function.
5: SMASH fish are a great source of Vitamin D.
Long story short, start adding some SMASH fish into your diet- the benefits are endless!

Allopathic medicine, or allopathy, refers to science-based, modern medicine.
Allopathic medicine is the term that is used to describe the type of medicine that most people are familiar with, and may also be described as conventional medicine, mainstream, traditional medicine, or Western medicine.
Allopathic medicine is particularly good when the body is acutely injured, or when it is in crisis. If one has a broken arm, a cast is appropriate. If they have an acute inflammation of their appendix, it would be a good idea to remove the offending organ surgically before it ruptures. If they are dying of bacterial pneumonia, antibiotics may save their life. However, allopathic medicine is not geared at detecting imbalance at an early stage. Its major contribution is to crisis medicine, where it is often amazingly effective.
Prof Benjamin Bikman, a high-level scientist said in an interview that science can predict up to five years or even ten years ahead of time that an individual will become diabetic. At this point, the blood glucose is still normal so there is no diagnosis and therefore no treatment. It's like waiting on a major road track to be hit by a truck and then rushed to the hospital. What if you heard the truck coming while it was still far off, and you were able to be helped to get off the track? That would be preferable. However, if you are blind and deaf and you have no guide or your guide has 1000 of you and therefore has no enough time or resources, well that is unfortunate. I know it's not a perfect analogy, but my point is that timely knowledge or even awareness can spare you a lot of hardship.
If you have a way of knowing quite early that plaque is building up in the brain, I am sure you will do all you can to stop it or slow it down rather than wait to be diagnosed with a disease that has no cure.
Integrative medicine is a holistic medical discipline that takes into account the lifestyle habits of a patient. The physician works to treat the whole person rather than just the disease. The mind, body, and soul of a patient are taken into consideration to promote healing and well-being.
A psychosomatic illness originates from or is aggravated by emotional stress and manifests in the body as physical pain and other symptoms. Depression can also contribute to psychosomatic illness, especially when the body’s immune system has been weakened by severe and/or chronic stress.
A common misconception is that psychosomatic conditions are imaginary or "all in the head." Physical symptoms of psychosomatic conditions are real and require treatment just as any other illness would. Unfortunately, effective treatment does not always come in a timely or effective manner. Now that we know about central nervous system regulation.
Functional medicine embraces much of the philosophy of Integrative medicine as described above but also employs a systems-oriented medical approach that works to identify and understand the underlying or root causes of disease. This discipline takes into account the personalization of healthcare, as each patient care plan is distinct and unique. The relationship between patient and practitioner effectively becomes a partnership; every aspect of a patient’s medical history is reviewed in detail. Much like integrative medicine, functional medicine treats the individual rather than the disease.
Often, individual genetic and environmental research is conducted to obtain a deeper knowledge of the patient’s health status. Understanding the biochemical individuality of a patient can lead to the underlying causes of disease and furthermore, the prevention of additional health risks in the future. Functional Medicine has gained much popularity, even spurring the creation of the Institute for Functional Medicine.
So, get curious. Find out what is available and get rid of the mindset that the government must do everything for us all to be in perfect health. That is not going to happen, not soon anyway.
I believe that all these specialties are needed for our optimum health. We need to get curious, learn and even invest in our health.
